American Sign Language: "disgust"

To sign gross, make a face of disgust and rub your dominant hand in a claw shape on top of your belly, in counter-clockwise circles. Another popular way to sign gross in ASL is to take your dominant claw-shaped hand, then make a clockwise motion on your chest.

To sign "bother," or "annoy" use your dominant hand to "chop" into the webbed area between the thumb and index finger of your non-dominant hand.

How to sign "hate" in American Sign Language (ASL)? Definition: To feel intense or passionate dislike for (someone). Pronunciation: Flick "8" handshape, two-handed. Sometimes, one-handed (informal register).

The sign for "embarrassed" has several versions. To do the general sign for embarrassed, alternate moving your hands upward alongside your head as if showing the blood rushing up into your face as you are feeling embarrassed. Use a bit of a rotating movement for each hand (up, forward a bit, down, back a bit).

The thumb/index finger side of a b-handshape struck against the chin means "bitch" (contact point is the side of the index finger). "Bastard" can be produced by doing the same sign but locating it on the forehead. The sign for "bitch" is often confused for the English sign "be" or the sign "breakfast".

American Sign Language also has slangs similar to spoken English. The slangs or idioms in ASL do not make sense when used in spoken English. For example, in ASL, 258 means “very interesting”. There are also other slangs such as “missed the train” or “true-biz”.

A double twist means "boring" in general. A single twist after pointing to yourself means "I'm bored." A single twist that starts at the side of the nose and moves out away from the face 12 or so inches with a big movement means "I am bored spitless."

Cry is signed by looking sad and tracing imaginary tears down your face using your index fingers. Start with your dominant index finger extended just below your eye, and move the index finger down your face. Alternate with the other index finger on the opposite cheek.
