In actiethriller Triple Frontier volgen we een vijftal aan lagerwal geraakte ex-militairen die besluiten een Mexicaanse drugsbaron te beroven. Klinkt als de plot van een nieuwe aflevering van The Expendables, maar in handen van regisseur J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, All Is Lost) werd het iets veel ambitieuzers. Chandor is niet eens zo geïnteresseerd in de beroving zelf (al brengt hij die goed en spannend in beeld), hij is veel meer geïnteresseerd in hoe de mannen reageren wanneer het allemaal dreigt mis te gaan.
