iRacing recommended GPU system requirements

Here’s what iRacing requires you in terms of graphics card for playing the game at maximum performance:

iRacing Graphics Settings List for Optimal FPS (4)

  • Minimum:2GB Dedicated vRAM
  • Recommended:6GB Dedicated vRAM
  • High End:8+GB Dedicated vRAM

That goes all the way from an entry level Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 @ 2 GB / GTX 1050to a higher end GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB.

So make sure you’re falling in between this GPU specs before continuing with our graphics settings guide.

NVIDIA graphics control panel settings

Before diving into the iRacing in-game graphics settings, we’ll need to make sure that our GPU is set accordingly for maximizing performance without compromising our graphics card.

  • Max system memory to use (MB) = 8192MB (Middle value)

General iRacing graphics tips

So as you can see most of the settings are set to high levels, with the exception of a few things.

The reason why we’re not setting everything to max detail is because it’s not worth the performance loss, especially on lower-end GPUs.

iRacing Graphics Settings List for Optimal FPS (7)

You should also know that iRacing is pretty optimized in general, so you shouldn’t have any problems running the game smoothly even on medium-end PCs.

The one setting that you might want to change depending on your GPU is the Max GPU Memory usage, which you can set according to your GPU’s VRAM.

You can also change the Max frame rate setting depending on your monitor’s specs.

Conclusion

So here were our iRacing graphics settings guide, which you can use to get the best possible performance and image quality in-game.

These settings will allow you to not compromise your frames per second so that you can have a smooth and enjoyable experience while driving on iRacing.

We hope that this guide was helpful and that you’ll now be able to take your iRacing experience to the next level.

Good luck and we’ll see you on track 🙂

What is the best CPU and GPU combo for iRacing? ›

GPU and CPU

For the CPU, iRacing requires a quad-core at a minimum, and iRacing specifically calls out the AMD FX-6300 and Intel Core i5-4430 as minimum. For a GPU, iRacing needs a unit with 2GB onboard, and cites the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 7850. Casey Mahoney suggests you start a little higher.

How many FPS is perfect? ›

What should my FPS be for optimal performance? In general, most gamers recommend aiming for at least 60 FPS for smooth gameplay experience. However, this depends on the type of game you're playing some genres require more intensive graphics than others and thus require higher frame rates to function properly.

What is the best refresh rate for iRacing? ›

Choose a monitor with a high refresh rate for a fluid and responsive gaming experience. If you want to guarantee smooth images and less motion blur, aim for at least 144Hz. Result for Accuracy: Clear images are necessary to identify details on the track.

Is 144Hz good for sim racing? ›

Optimizing Your Monitor Setup for Sim Racing

Set the resolution to the highest level supported by your monitor and graphics card to ensure crisp and detailed visuals. Aim for a high refresh rate (at least 144Hz, but preferably 240Hz or 300Hz) to minimize screen tearing and provide a smoother experience.

What is the best FPS setting? ›

decent gaming experience can be had at 30 or 45fps, 60fps is where things start to get buttery smooth. If your hardware can handle a greater fps than its refresh rate, this can improve your gaming experience by reducing input lag.

Is texture quality CPU or GPU? ›

For most modern games, especially those with high-fidelity graphics, the GPU plays a dominant role in determining performance. A powerful GPU can render more detailed textures, handle complex lighting effects, and maintain higher frame rates, all of which contribute to a smoother, more immersive gaming experience.

What is a good frame rate for iRacing? ›

I think 90/100 fps is the absolute minimum you should aim for, below which it gets (for me) noticeably choppy. I aim for fixed 144fps on my triples (I run 1080p monitors with a beefy computer for that reason) and 120hz with a Quest 2, but I could go down to 90hz as well, while 80hz makes me nauseous.

What makes iRacing so realistic? ›

Superior Physics Engines

We account for high-speed mathematical algorithms, data-driven calculations and dynamic forces to give virtual racers the exact same physical dynamics that real-world drivers experience on the track. Accuracy and realism are the foundations of iRacing.

How to view FPS in iRacing? ›

Pressing "F" on your keyboard will enable the framerate meter, which shows several performance statistics for the sim.
